Purpose:
Employment through the AbilityOne Program means quality and empowering jobs that average more than $9 per hour plus benefits. Many AbilityOne service positions are in integrated settings that offer challenging work with quality benefits. AbilityOne producing agencies also can partner with referral sources to provide job coaches and ongoing employment support – meaning that the AbilityOne Program may be a viable option for people with severe disabilities that are looking for assistance with job placements.
NISH staff members are available to tailor a one-day training for vocational rehabilitation, state disability agency or One Stop representatives who are interested in understanding more about the benefits of AbilityOne, job referrals, and networking and collaboration opportunities with local and national employment and workforce entities.
Audience:
This course is designed for vocational rehabilitation and state disability agency staff, as well as Disability Navigators and One Stop staff to learn firsthand about the AbilityOne Program – the single largest provider of employment for people with severe disabilities in the nation.
Format:
This course can be a half- to a full-day depending on an organization's training needs and personalization.
Instructor:
Therese Stein, Debbie Ignatz and Brian DeAtley from NISH's Workforce Development Team serve as the instructors for this course.
