Registered Building Service Manager (RBSM) Certification Training
and Examination
Learning Objectives
The seven manuals cover the following topics:
Note: This three-day course is available locally and
regionally. A minimum participation of 20 is required.
Purpose:
This three-day session has been approved by the BSCAI
(Building Service Contractors Association International)
to certify qualified individuals involved in JWOD custodial
contracts. BSCAI, the nation's leader in custodial
certification, has partnered with NISH to provide this
commercial grade certification program.
Audience:
The training and the certification examination is intended
primarily for supervisors and project managers involved
in custodial operations who have a minimum of one
year experience in the custodial field. They must comply
with the same standards and code of ethics that BSCAI
applies to all commercial BSCs (Building Service
Contractors). An RBSM brochure with complete details
is available at www.bscai.org or by phone request at
800-368-3414. Mickey Crowe may be reached at
ccrowe@nish.org or 678- 581-7283.
Format:
The first two days of review/training are a combination
of lecture and exercises based on the seven manuals in
the Building Service Management Program, which is
recognized as a world standard of certification for project
managers and supervisors. The third day is an all-day
written examination proctored by an educator approved
by BSCAI. Cost of a set of manuals, examination, training
facility and proctor will be covered by the NISH Training
department. Allow sufficient time to receive and review
manuals for maximum benefit of the two days of training.
Participants who score less than 70 percent on any one
of the four examination modules may re-take that section
within one year in their local areas. Contact BSCAI
directly for details. Participants should bring their own
calculators for the examination.
Instructors:
Mickey Crowe of NISH South Region has been involved
in the custodial field for more than 30 years and is
recognized as a consultant and trainer. Along with other
credentials, he maintains the CBSE (Certified Building
Service Executive) and RBSM (Registered Building
Service Manager) designations from BSCAI and conducts
training sessions focused on improving custodial
operations. He conducts RBSM training and is a member
of the BSCAI Supervision Seminar Committee.
The training that I received during the RSBM
certification has proven to be very positive and
crucial. Since that training I have been faced with
opportunities to expand our operation. What's
more important than getting new contracts is being
able to service these contracts. RBSM showed us
that choosing the right equipment can increase
the productivity rate and even cut the turnover
of employees. All of my tips to encourage and
motivate came from this class. A company in the
area saw the crew's work and offered us a 900,000
sq.ft. floor to do. I learned so much in those few
days, and it has been very useful.
