Estimating Custodial Costs

Learning Objectives:
 Develop an understanding of which custodial tasks use the most labor
 Learn a six step process for developing labor costs
 Determine which key costs elements should be evaluated during a building walk-through
 Learn the four types of custodial maintenance
 Apply "Cost-in-Use"
 Learn how and when to use estimating guidelines
 Understand how to apply and evaluate productivity rates
Purpose:
This workshop focuses on how to calculate labor costs. A hands-on experience helps participants develop accurate estimates for custodial labor. The workshop is organized into three learning modules: estimating the work, assigning the work and evaluating the work.

Audience:
This workshop is primarily intended for NPA staff responsible for custodial projects and operations, including supervisors and project managers. However, all interested NPA staff are encouraged to participate.

Format:
This one-day workshop is a combination of lecture and exercises. Participants must bring calculators.

Instructor:
A member of the NISH National Office Services Team facilitates this workshop. The National Office Services Team provides customer-focused administrative, technical, management and policy support to NPAs. The Services Team also provides training in all functional areas of expertise.
