AMA Self-Study Certificate Programs

The NISH Academy offers the Self-Study CEU Certificate Program in partnership with the American Management Association (AMA). This professional development program allows participants the flexibility to complete courses as they fit within their schedules and professional goals. Courses are available in print or audio format. Participants complete the courses on their own time and at their own pace, submit a post-course test for grading, and receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for each course successfully completed. Participants can earn a NISH/AMA Certificate in Supervision, Customer Satisfaction, Quality Assurance, and Human Resource Management.



NISH/AMA Certificate in Human Resource Management


To earn a NISH/AMA Certificate in Human Resource Management, participants earn 10 CEUs, choosing from the following course selections:

A NISH/AMA Certificate in Quality Assurance will be given to participants earning 10 CEUs from the following course selections:

Professional Development Audio Cassette Study Program


NISH Academy also offers a series of skill development programs developed by the American Management Association (AMA). These self-study courses on audio cassette can be used for individual personal development or for a small group of participants (four to five at a time). Each individual can submit a test for grading by AMA to receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon completion of the course. The following audio cassette courses are available in 2008:


Assertiveness for Career and Personal Success



Learn techniques for managing others while maintaining mutual respect. This course helps employees build on existing strengths and improve their overall ability to assert themselves in responsible and appropriate ways. Participants learn how to:



Listen and Be Listened To



Learn how to improve listening skills using active, critical and responsive listening techniques. Four one-hour tapes and a step-by-step workbook provide listening techniques such as:


Creative Problem Solving



Learn how to unleash staff creativity! This course presents challenging creative exercises and proven problem-solving techniques to help employees:


How to Improve Your Memory


Learn tried and tested tools to enhance concentration and improve the ability to recall information. Imagine remembering names, faces, numbers, and lists—and recalling them easily and readily. This course uses a variety of simple, yet effective, methods to retain more information, including mnemonic techniques, basic listening, and verbal associations to make difficult memorization tasks easy.
