About NISH For Federal Agencies For Nonprofits For People with Severe Disabilities Training Press Room

NISH Goals

Goal 1: Employment Opportunities

According to the 2000 Census, of the approximately 31 million United States residents between the ages of 21 and 64 who have disabilities, 21 million are unemployed.

Goal 2: Customer and Business Partner Satisfaction

Employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities are created through the AbilityOne Program by nonprofit agencies selling products and services to Federal customers.  Therefore, Federal customer and NPA business partner satisfaction are critical components of NISH’s ongoing ability to increase employment opportunities.

Goal 3: Business Development

NISH will continue to support the creation of employment opportunities by developing new business lines and crafting integrated solutions that meet the needs of our Federal customers.

Goal 4: Promoting AbilityOne

To maximize employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities, the AbilityOne Program and NISH must be viewed positively by current and potential employees, current and potential customers, decision makers and other stakeholders.

Goal 5: Organizational Effectiveness

NISH must operate effectively and efficiently to achieve our goals and objectives.

Goal 6: Human Resources

To fulfill our mission, NISH must have high performing individuals dedicated to providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Goal 7: Stewardship

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines stewardship as “the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care”; NISH must exercise stewardship in all aspects of executing the mission that has been entrusted to us through the AbilityOne Program.
